Kurdish Moj
Kurdish Moj
The Moj is a type of quilt crafted from sturdy fabric, akin to the Jajim, and meticulously woven by the skilled hands of Kurdish nomads. The weaving process involves creating four narrow segments, each approximately 50 cm wide, which are expertly stitched together. This particular Moj, a product of traditional craftsmanship, hails from the enchanting province of Ilam and dates back to the 1980s. It carries with it a cherished Kurdish tradition of presenting these quilts as trousseau gifts to their daughters. Throughout the years, this handwoven masterpiece has served as a snug bedding cover, notable not only for its warmth but also for its bug-repelling qualities, owing to its woolen composition.
